I finished up my summer classes this week, so I am officially on summer break (for two weeks)!
It also means we are even closer to the day that I get to show off all of the fun information I found during my Civil War Colored Soldiers of Callaway project!

One final highlight from this project comes from a court document accusing and charging Private George Washington (the third) of the 67th colored infantry company K… of stealing from Private George Washington (the second)!

On Friday I helped organize and create a new binder hosting all our documents and photos on the floods that have affected Callaway County. The flood of 93’ had enough documents to have it’s own binder completely to itself!
When I talked with my family later that day about my surprise at seeing magazine clippings of people canoeing the flooded streets, my mom explained that she had just moved to Mokane a month or two after it happened and remembered that a lot of kids got sick because they would go swimming in the water.
