This past week I created the display board for William “Cool Breeze” Van Buren, with the help of my fellow intern Drew. I think my display board’s making skills are getting better, but we’ll see how they progress. I also was able to assist in cleaning many museum items from mold this week again. I only took pictures of three, but there were many more, both big and small. Some with active mold, and some without. The red couch was so cool to clean as it had been my first fabric cleaning, and it’s just a very cool piece of furniture, but I learned and practiced different methods of cleaning for different types of items, such as different cleaning solutions and brushes. Another very interesting item I was able to clean was an old sewing machine table, which I had never seen before. I have a few family members who are big into sewing and was very excited to show them the picture of it.
