Preparing for Events
By Drew Doebelin

It was very busy last week and it will be very busy again this week! We had lots of meetings, one was about the final details for the Slice of Callaway on Sunday the 13th, and the one I've been stressing out about for awhile, my mock-presentation about the Callaway U.S.C.T!
In the end, I didn't have anything to stress over, everyone was very nice and had really good questions and recommendations for when I do the real deal in February (date still to be determined.) We also had a meeting for the future Cowboy Church event, where we will have a display!

I also cleaned again, I worked on a big corner cabinet and was able to get halfway through a post office sorting box (It has a lot of small spaces!). It doesn't sound like a lot, but they are both big pieces of furniture, and it was really hot last week. They also both had active mold on them, and we wanted to make sure they were super clean.
I've started on a list of slave owners from Callaway listed on the descriptive list for the U.S.C.T and will be going through the 1850's and 60's slave schedules for more names, which will be a part of the ongoing project to improve black history resources at the society. Hopefully, combined with the mini genealogy research I will be doing for the soldiers as well, I will be able to share some more interesting facts with everyone!
